Which Foods Are Best For Building Muscle?

There are a lot of choices available in order to get the proper amount of nutrition each day, but of course you can only eat so much at each meal. Because of this it is important to choose the best bodybuilding foods.

For protein, eggs are known to provide 12.6 grams per 100 grams. When eaten raw, you can absorb and digest it easier than any other food. As long as you can get the nutrients absorbed into your body, the proteins can be utilized to build muscle and maintain your body. Make sure to always eat the yolk when you eat eggs. Contrary to popular belief, recent studies have proven that the cholesterol in raw egg yolk does not contribute to heart disease. However, cooking egg yolk will lead to the oxidation of its cholesterol. Heart disease can stem from the clogging of our blood vessels due to oxidized cholesterol.

This is why it is important to eat the eggs uncooked whenever possible. You can absorb and digest eggs most easily when eaten that way. You might not like the texture and flavor of raw eggs, but there are ways around that. Just put it in a protein shake or smoothie, and you can down it with no issue whatsoever.

Eggs are also a very affordable source of protein compared to other common sources of protein. Even if bodybuilding isn’t your goal, eggs are so beneficial with regards to protein and nutrients, they should always be a part of your regular diet.

Another great protein source is quinoa, which in its uncooked state contains 14 grams of protein for every 100 grams of product. It’s also loaded with other nutritional benefits (gluten free, source of complete protein, rich in vitamins and minerals, etc). Soak your quinoa with water, rinsing it completely prior to the cooking process if you want to give it a shot. Quinoa has a coating of saponin, which irritates your digestive system, so make sure you wash this off. You could eat this instead of oatmeal or rice. Stir fry with quinoa is a fantastic alternative. If you enjoy making pastas or breads, you can even get a quinoa flour to use to enhance the nutrient level in your foods.

Another excellent source of protein is beef, which boasts 26 grams of protein per 100 grams. Out of all the foods, Beef contains the highest amount of carnitine. With carnatine, you can break down fats, and make energy that is used for your metabolism to operate your body functions. It is a natural source of creatine, which helps increase strength. Other nutrients that support muscle function, growth and recovery are also found in beef. If you were to ask me, you have to include beef if you intend on bodybuilding.

Whey protein is another popular source of protein, containing between 25-95% per serving. The two forms that it comes in are isolate and concentrate. Isolate normally contains 90%-95% protein, while concentrate normally contains 25%-89%. Make sure to read the label of the whey protein to verify the overall protein content of the product. If you are looking to gain weight while bodybuilding, look for protein powders that contain less protein and more lactase, a type of sugar. I recommend that you get the higher protein content products, not a fan of extra empty calories. You can digest whey at a fast rate, and it will quickly become available to synthesize proteins in your body. Be sure to take whey protein close to your workout, as you can get more energy in your muscles. You will also find a rich source of amino acids in whey protein. BCAA is one of them, and its role is to help you build muscle by boosting the synthesis of proteins, and it can provide energy as well. This is probably the best bodybuilding food of them all.

Tuna contains 26 grams of protein for each 100 grams, just like beef does. But tuna contains twice the amount of creatine that beef has. When performing resistance training, you will find a much higher strength gain with creatine.

All of the foods outlined here are an excellent source of muscle building protein, but you should always remember to keep your diet nutritionally balanced. In order for your body to effectively grow and heal from a workout, it needs to be receiving properly balanced nutrition. Make sure to also incorporate fruits and vegetables into your diet. However, focus on the best bodybuilding food.
